Founded in 2017, the Physical Education Unit (PEU) of CUHK-Shenzhen provides PE courses for all undergraduates, organizes sports events and activities, supports the operation of sports teams as well as manages sports venues and facilities on campus. PEU comprises five sections, including the PE section, physical fitness assessment center, sports development section, sports venue section, and administration section. By offering sports services of high quality, PEU dedicates to promote sports interests and participation of the whole university.

Physical Education (PE) course is one of the core courses of CUHK-Shenzhen.  PEU offers diversified PE compulsory and elective courses, from soccer, basketball, volleyball to swimming, taekwondo, barre, etc. We aim to help students develop at least one lifelong habitual sport. The items of the PE courses could be adjusted according to students’ interests and requests every year.

Apart from the PE courses, to meet the needs and interests of the sports of all students and staff, PEU also organizes summer sports classes (e.g. snorkeling, rock climbing, Latin dance). For the student with a high athletic level, he or she can choose to join the University’s sports teams. By training and attending sports competitions on and off-campus, student-athletes would grow up to all-around talents with academic and sports abilities.

The Physical Fitness Assessment Center is equipped with various test equipment, which not only can meet the National Students’ Physical Health Test, but also offer fitness assessments (e.g. body composition test, handgrip strength test, and step up fitness test) for students and staff, helping them better understand their physical conditions. We also use Polar H10 Heart Rate Monitor to help them control their exercise intensities during exercise.

Besides, PEU offers all range of sports facilities on campus, which include the Sports Hall, Swimming Pool, several outdoor sports fields, fitness rooms, etc. They are open to all students and staff freely. Some of them can be booked via the Venue Booking System.
